The OverPower community gathered on September 20th in Seattle for an electrifying showdown at the Valhalla tournament, marking the first NAOL (North American OverPower League) event ever held on the West Coast. With about 30 competitors, the tournament showcased a mix of new faces and seasoned veterans, all eager to claim victory in this historic event.
The tournament was conducted under the Constructed Deck format, adhering to NAOL rules, which notably included the ban on the “Devourer of Worlds” card. Competitors were free to use LRG expansions and Any Character cards, adding a layer of strategic depth to the competition.
A Champion Defends His Title
All eyes were on Phil Miller, the reigning Valhalla champion, as he defended his title for the fourth consecutive year. The final match was nothing short of epic, with Phil going head-to-head against the top-ranked player, Phil Keffer. In a massive battle that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Miller managed to clinch victory, reaffirming his dominance in the OverPower arena.
The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as players from different backgrounds came together, creating a supportive and inclusive environment. It was a perfect blend of competition and camaraderie, with veterans sharing insights and newcomers making their mark. The community’s enthusiasm was palpable, proving that the spirit of OverPower transcends geographical boundaries.
The stakes remain high as we approach the “Battle for Boston,” the last battle of the season, scheduled for November 8-9. This upcoming event promises to bring even more thrilling matches and memorable moments.
As we wrap up this tournament cycle, anticipation is already building for the next one, which kicks off in April 2025. The Valhalla tournament has set a high bar, and the OverPower community is more vibrant than ever.
