Characters and their kits
The twelve common slots are two character stacks: a Character card and the five common Specials that belong to it. The rest of the pack comes from the uncommon slots and the rare slot.
Character
91 cardsFour make a team: three on the Front Line, one in Reserve. Each has a Power Grid across Energy, Combat, Brute Force and Intelligence, a Threat Value, and usually an Inherent Ability. Team Threat may not exceed 76.
The character kit
7 cardsA character may only play Specials printed with their own name. Five are common and arrive in the stack; the sixth is uncommon, comes from the uncommon slots, and is usually the strongest card the character has. Three kits, complete:
Mission Objective
14 cardsThe other way to win. Seven Objectives make a Mission Set, and advancing all seven to the completed pile takes the game whatever the board looks like. Every card has two faces, the Objective on one and the story on the other. A full set:
Who Killed the Guardians of the Globe
The badge on each card is its printed rarity.
Event
10 cardsPlayed in the Events Phase before anyone attacks, and they change the terms of that battle for both players. Running Events takes a legal deck from 51 cards to 56. Events belong to a Mission Set, and each set has both common and uncommon ones:
Who Killed the Guardians of the Globe 5 cards
The Walking Dead — All Out War 5 cards
Everything you build around
Four cards drawn from the whole uncommon pool, in any combination.
Special
36 cardsThe seventh card in a character kit, and usually the one the kit is built around. One per character, uncommon, and the only Special in a kit that does not arrive in the stack.
Universe
65 cardsObjects, people and resources that modify a Power card or attack on their own. Only one may modify a Power card at a time.
Basic 12 cards
Teamwork 36 cards
Training 7 cards
Ally 8 cards
Location Homebase
7 cardsOne Homebase starts in play with your team and its ability runs all game. Most carry a Threat Value that counts against the same 76 the characters draw from.
Aspect 3 cards, all shown
Aspects travel with a Homebase and change how that location plays.
Battleground
1 card · 26 Any CharacterA Battleground unlocks a set of Any Character Specials: cards with no name on them that any character on the team may play. The Any Character cards belong to their Battleground. A team may run one Battleground and its set, never cards from two sets together.

Power
39 cardsThe basic unit of attack and defence. Every Power card comes out of the uncommon slots. Four types run 1 to 8; a character may play any card at or below their grid value in that type. Any-Power and MultiPower are the wild cards. The whole set of thirty-nine:
Energy
Combat
Brute Force
Intelligence
Any-Power
MultiPower
Alternate art
One card, four outcomes. Every one of them is an alternate-art Character card: the same card you can open at Common, with new artwork on it. Nothing in this slot changes how a card plays.
Rare
37 cards
Ultra Rare
18 cardsThe shortest list in the set. Adam Kubert, Charlie Adlard, Jae Lee, Philip Tan, Jon Lam.
Rare Foil and Ultra Rare Foil
53 cardsSilver cold foil on the same artwork. The rarity code does not change; the collector number picks up an F. 35 of the 37 Rares and all 18 Ultra Rares have a foil printing, and unlike the common and uncommon foils these come out of boosters. Four characters, both treatments. Move the cursor across a card.
