How to read
a rarity mark
Every OverPower card prints its rarity on the bottom edge. There are four marks, and they describe the artwork on the card rather than what it does in play.
Collecting is a choice
Every card is available at Common and Uncommon
No card in the set is printed only at Rare. Anything you want to play can be opened, traded for, or bought at the lowest rarity it exists at.
Rarity is cosmetic
A Rare or Ultra Rare has the same Power Grid, Threat Value and Inherent Ability as its Common. The artwork is what changes.
A deck costs 20 to 30 dollars
A legal deck is 51 cards, or 56 if you run Events. Building a second one to lend or give away is well within reach.
The same Invincible, three times. Common, Rare, and Ultra Rare Foil.
The mark on the bottom edge
Rarity mark — magnified below
The strip reads left to right: collector number out of the set size, copyright, the wing glyph and rarity code, then the artist credit.
The wing glyph appears nowhere else on the card. The letters to its right are the rarity.
Character cards are landscape and every other card type is portrait. The strip sits on the bottom edge either way.

What each tier holds
Common
Character cards and the five Special cards that belong to each, plus the Power cards, Mission Objective cards and Event cards a deck needs.
Common Foil
Foil printings of every common Character card and all of their Special cards.
Uncommon
Universe cards — Basic, Teamwork, Training and Ally — plus Location Homebase and Aspect cards, Battlegrounds, Any-Power and MultiPower Power cards, Any Character cards, Event cards, and the Special cards that complete a kit.
Uncommon Foil
Only cards from a character's kit. Nothing else in the uncommon pool is printed on foil.
Rare
Character cards only. The same card as its Common, with new artwork.
Rare Foil
The foil printing of a Rare. Same rarity code, collector number with an F.
Ultra Rare
Character cards only, and the smallest group in the set. Artists include Adam Kubert, Charlie Adlard, Jae Lee, Philip Tan and Jon Lam.
Ultra Rare Foil
The foil printing of an Ultra Rare.
Counts are collector numbers. A foil printing shares its card's number and is not counted again.
Foil is a fifth thing
Foil is a finish. The artwork, the rarity code and the card in play are the same. The collector number gains an F.
Move the cursor across a card
Same code
A foil Ultra Rare still prints UR. The stock is the difference.
Number gains an F
472/472 becomes 472F/472.
Full art
Rares and Ultra Rares are full-art, no-bleed cards on high-grade stock.
Two character stacks, four uncommons, one rare slot
12 Common — two character stacks
A stack is one character, complete. Two of them, drawn at random, make up the twelve commons.
- 1 Character card — Power Grid, Threat Value, Inherent Ability
- 5 Special cards, all belonging to that character
- 6 cards to a stack, 2 stacks to a pack
- A stack is playable on its own, no other cards needed
4 Uncommon — mixed
Drawn from the whole uncommon pool, in any combination.
- Universe — Basic, Teamwork, Training, Ally
- Aspect cards, which travel with Location Homebases
- Locations — Battlegrounds and Location Homebases
- Special cards that complete a character's kit
- Event cards
- Power cards — Any-Power and MultiPower
- Any Character cards
1 Rare slot — four outcomes
Always exactly one card, always an alternate-art Character card.
- Rare — 37 in the set
- Rare Foil — 35 of those 37
- Ultra Rare — 18 in the set
- Ultra Rare Foil — all 18
Five cards, every one foil
All foil
Five-card packs with no non-foil slot. Awarded through organized play.
Foil Commons and Uncommons
Foil printings of every common Character card and all of their Special cards, plus the uncommon Special cards that complete a kit.
15 exclusive alternate-art Rares
Commissions that appear nowhere else: not in boosters, not in the main set numbering.
Most licensed games reuse the same artwork
We commissioned new pieces instead. 61 artists worked on Skybound, and the alternate arts are where the range of styles shows: house style, painted, inked, watercolour.
Five more characters, each at Common, at Rare, and as an Ultra Rare Foil.
Built for organized play
Prize packs were built for organized play. They support the original artwork commissioned for the set, back the local game stores that run events, and keep the collecting side of the game attached to sitting down and playing it.
