After a strong presence earlier this year at Origins Game Fair and PAX East, Lazarus Rising Games (LRG) made its boldest move yet: a full-scale showing at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (SDCC). Sharing a booth with Top Cow Productions, we brought OverPower to one of the biggest pop culture stages in the world.
With Booth #2629 as our command center, our team transformed the convention floor space into a dynamic hub of gameplay, merchandise, and exclusive fan experiences. What followed was a weekend of demo duels, special reveals, and a marquee panel featuring a video intro from Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, the Legend himself Matt Hawkins from Top Cow and many of the artists who have cemented OverPower’s return to the spotlight.
Booth #2629: A Community in Motion
LRG’s booth was one of the most energetic corners of the show floor. Side by side with Top Cow, the OverPower team rolled out a full lineup of demos, promotional giveaways and exclusive playmats to welcome longtime players while enticing newcomers.
For this convention, LRG offered a single-player game mat showcasing never-before-seen artwork of The Darkness by acclaimed artist Raymond Gay. This beautifully designed mat instantly became a coveted item for collectors and players alike!
Moreover, our special convention promo card, spotlighting Mark Grayson as Invincible, and created by celebrated artist Philip Tan was available to all people that stopped by to say hello! (while supplies lasted) This promo card is part of the upcoming Invincible/Skybound-themed set, slated for release in 2026.
The true high point of SDCC for Lazarus Rising Games came on Saturday, July 26, when the company hosted its marquee panel: OverPower Rising: Bringing Skybound, Top Cow & Edgar Rice Burroughs to CCGs!
Held from 1:45–2:45 PM in the 1,000-seat Ballroom 6DE of the San Diego Convention Center, the panel was both a celebration of OverPower’s legacy and a glimpse into its future.
The stage brought together:
- Ronald Pozzi & Joseph Gagnepain – Co-founders of Lazarus Rising Games
- Ron Peraza – Original co-creator of OverPower
- Matt Hawkins – President & COO of Top Cow Productions
- Artists Philip Tan, Jon Lam, Casey Parsons, and Ito
The panel balanced nostalgia with forward-looking announcements. Fans heard directly from the original minds behind the game while also learning how new partnerships with Skybound, Top Cow, and the legacy of Edgar Rice Burroughs will shape upcoming expansions.
As a thank-you to attendees, every fan who came to the panel received a limited edition OverPower Invincible CCG card featuring Rex Splode, illustrated by artist Gonzalo Ordonez. This exclusive collectible was a highlight for many, with social media soon lighting up with photos and excitement over the card’s design.
We were also very happy to have been mentioned in the Robert Kirkman panel, only a day before our own, where fans got a look at the upcoming 2026 set, which will feature characters from The Walking Dead and Invincible.

Looking Forward: From SDCC to the Future of OverPower
San Diego Comic-Con 2025 was more than just another event on the calendar for Lazarus Rising Games, it was a statement of intent to become that best fan driven game in the history of TCG’s.
The Invincible/Skybound set coming in 2026 already has fans eagerly awaiting what’s next. If SDCC is any indication, we are ready to meet that excitement head-on with creativity, community, and a commitment to honoring OverPower’s roots.
